Community members are invited to attend Voices for Racial Justice, a forum about racial disparities in the local criminal justice system.

“People can just bring their stories, experiences, and maybe their struggle,” Artice James, a member of the Champaign County Racial Justice Task Force said.

The forum is an effort to respond to minority issues in the community.

“We know in Champaign County, black people have a disproportionate amount of incarceration,” James said. “So we are trying to look at that to get an idea of why that is and come up with some solutions and recommendations to the county board.”

The first forum will be Thursday at Church of the Living God in Champaign from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The second meeting will be Saturday at the Independent Media Center in Urbana from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
