Third sexual assault reported in last two weeks

The University police sent out a campus safety notice that a sexual assault occurred. This is the third notice in the past two weeks.

University Police Chief Jeffrey Christensen reported to students on Saturday morning that a student reported she was sexually assaulted during the early evening hours of Thursday, Aug. 25.

The assault occurred at a fraternity house located on South First Street by a person known to the victim.

The first reported assault occurred in the early morning of August 19 at a fraternity house in Champaign. The second notice was sent out two days later and detailed a reported assault that occurred around 11 p.m. on August 17 at an apartment in the 700 block of South Gregory place in Urbana.

In both instances, the victim knew the attacker.
