CEBES co-coordinator Anita Ortiz to visit campus

Anita Ortiz, the co-coordinator at the Christian Base Community of El Salvador (CEBES) and a member of the people’s struggle movement will be visiting Urbana-Champaign on Monday, June 27 at 12:30 pm at La Casa Cultural Latina.

Anita has held her position at CEBES for over 25 years, and according to a press release, is an excellent resource for those interested in the situation in El Salvador, both current and past. Her entire family is well known and respected in El Salvador for their work in fighting in the people’s struggle movement. Her brother, Octavio Ortiz, was one of the first priests murdered by the military death squads in 1979. She and others at CEBES have voiced the struggles of people in El Salvador.
