Preliminary autopsy results released for plane crash that killed three

The preliminary autopsy results have been released for the three victims involved in a plane crash near Rantoul on Sunday.

All three victims died as a result of blunt force trauma due to their plane striking the ground, according to a press release from Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup. All three victims died on impact and prior to the plane catching fire.

The victims’ jewelry, personal possessions and physical characteristics indicate that the three victim are Jon Buerkett, Dana Buerkett and Morgan Buerkett of Champaign, according to the press release. Official identification is pending.
