Monday at The Canopy Club’s Void Room, indie-rock band Good Neighbours brought a charming performance to the Champaign-Urbana area.
Good Neighbours is a musical duo from London, made up of Scott Verrill and Oli Fox. The pair began releasing music in January of 2024 with their hit song, “Home.”
The band previously released the chorus of the song on TikTok, where it gained massive popularity. Fox mentioned that the success of releasing the chorus of the song on the app helped the process of writing the song.
As of now, the song has been certified RIAA Platinum, and TikTok videos using the song have gained over two billion views.
Verrill and Fox are on their second American headline tour after their first last year. The duo had also previously toured with Foster The People in North America and Benson Boone on his UK/EU tour last fall.

The band is set to tour with Mumford and Sons this summer on select dates, as well as making appearances at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Hinterland Festival in Saint Charles, Iowa and Outside Lands in San Francisco.
After the opener, HXSTY charmed the crowd with his warm-up act, and the band took the stage at around 9:00 p.m. with Verrill on guitar and Fox on keyboard.
“How the f–k are we feeling?” Fox yelled to the crowd after their opening song. His call was met with cheers from an energized audience.
The band started their next song by playing an audio clip from the popular holiday film, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” before launching into “Bloom.”
“We take a lot of inspiration from films,” Fox said. “Specifically, A24 films because they make indie films, and we’re an indie band.”
After this, Fox announced they would be playing “Ripple,” a song the duo released earlier in the year. “Ripple” will also be the first song on their upcoming debut album, which will be released in four months.
Fox asked the audience again how they were feeling after performing “Ripple,” which was met with more cheers and raised hands.
“The vibe of Good Neighbours is great,” said Jarrett Crider, a Peoria resident. “It’s a feel-good vibe.”
After “Ripple,” the band formally introduced themselves to the crowd and made light-hearted comments about seeing boyfriends in the crowd who’d been dragged along to the show. Amid the laughs of the audience, they revealed the next song they would play was “Weekend Boy.”
After finishing “Weekend Boy,” they announced they would be playing their latest song, “Starry Eyed,” which Fox revealed they wrote while on tour with Foster The People.
“We wanted to play at a college because that’s what we’re interested in,” Fox said. “Our music is trying to capture that coming-of-age vibe.”
With the crowd still dancing along and cheering, they then performed “Keep It Up,” another one of their early releases.
The glow of the Void Room’s fluorescent lights, the band’s friendly rapport with the crowd and their continued energy captured the welcoming atmosphere that the band has become known for.
Finally, after “Keep It Up,” the duo announced they would play “Home” after sharing with the crowd their story of how the song came into being.
“We’re gonna play a song hopefully even the boyfriends know,” Fox said, continuing his joke from earlier.
The band’s performance of “Home” had the crowd dancing and cheering as the band allowed the audience to sing the chorus of the song with them.
After “Home,” Fox announced they would be playing their last song of the night, “Bloom,” before quickly jumping right into it.
After finishing the song, they gave a short and sweet goodbye, thanking the crowd before leaving the stage and a buzzing audience behind.
