Larian Studios releases its role-playing video game Baldur's Gate 3 in 2023.
The Game Awards have announced the nominees for this year’s award show.
The Game Awards is one of the biggest award ceremonies celebrating the gaming scene each year and can be compared to the Oscars or Grammys for the video game industry. The event was founded by host Geoff Keighley in 2014 with around 1.3 million viewers. It has since become one of the biggest events in gaming each year with last year’s show reaching around 103 million viewers.
Alongside the awards, the show has various surprise trailers and world premieres of new and upcoming games, downloadable content and other reveals. In previous years, there have been major reveals including “Mortal Kombat 11,” new “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” fighters such as Joker and Sephiroth and even the first look at the Xbox Series X.
Although no trailers have been confirmed for this year’s event, fans of the “Grand Theft Auto” series are speculating that the trailer of the newest entry in the series, “Grand Theft Auto VI,” will be revealed at The Game Awards, following a post from Rockstar Games on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that the trailer of the new game will be released in early December.
This year’s show will be hosted by Keighley and streamed live on Twitch from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CST. With 31 overall categories, both Remedy Entertainment’s “Alan Wake 2” and Larian Studios’ “Baldur’s Gate 3” lead this year’s nominations with eight nominations each including the titular Game of the Year award.
