The Daily Illini COVID-19 updates for April 13

Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department announced two more cases of the coronavirus in Champaign County.

The Krannert Center’s Costume Rentals announced that it will be partnering with University scientists and engineers to provide caps, gowns and masks to local medical personnel. Community volunteers can aid in sewing efforts by picking up materials at the Einstein Bros. Bagels on South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana and Anthony Drive in Champaign, or by having materials dropped off at their residence. To volunteer and schedule a pickup date, volunteers can go to Krannert’s website.

Five inmates of Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, Illinois have died from COVID-19-related illnesses. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, 139 inmates and 93 staff members at Stateville have tested positive for the coronavirus as of Friday.
