On Nov. 26, METCAD 911 received a call about an on-going unknown problem in the 700 block of East University Avenue. The operator quickly learned a person had been shot.

Robert L. Brown, a 21 year-old Urbana man, has been identified as the victim. He died after being shot multiple times.

Officers from several agencies, including the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, University Police Department, and Champaign Police Department responded to the call.

Upon arrival, they found Brown with apparent gunshot wounds, Surles said. He was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital for treatment. He died at 8:35 p.m. at the hospital.

An autopsy will be performed on Nov. 28, County Coroner Duane Northrup said in a press release.
