Students look forward to Halloween, Dad’s weekend

By Kate Gleason

As this year’s Halloween/Dad’s Weekend approaches, students on campus say they will be spending theirs in different ways. Since it is Dad’s Day Weekend, many will choose to spend time with their fathers.

There is the Saturday football game against University of Wisconsin during the day, and a number of things to do at night.

Erin Rezmer, sophomore in LAS, said she is excited for her dad coming in.

“We are going to have a lot of fun,” she said. “At night I plan on taking him out to the bars and getting him drunk.”

Additionally, with Halloween falling on a Monday this year, many students will be dressing up and going out all weekend.

Meredith Fischer, senior in LAS, said she is not sure which days she will be dressing up, but she is definitely planning on celebrating Halloween. “It’s my second-favorite holiday, right after Christmas,” she said.

Fischer said she has been excited for this year for a long time, planning her costume a month and a half ago. She will be dressing up as Uma Thurman’s character from the movie “Pulp Fiction.” Fischer, a natural blonde, said she already has the short black wig for the costume. Although her roommates do not yet have costumes, Fischer said she is going to make sure they all go out because of the hard work she already put into her costume.

Danielle Brown, senior in LAS, said she is looking forward to the weekend. Brown said she has a lot of things on her agenda, including going to a few haunted houses.

“I think it will be fun,” she said. “I want to get scared.”

Brown also said she will be dressing up and going to a Halloween Ball with some of her friends.

“I can’t wait ’til Halloween,” she said. “We’re going to be acting crazy all over campus. I just want to have a good time, get drunk, all of the above.”
