Krannert Uncorked continues into the summer

Krannert Uncorked, a weekly wine tasting event held every Thursday at 5 p.m at the Krannert Performing Art Center, will continue hosting events through the summer.

“We actually have a pretty consistent turnout. Anywhere between 100 to 200 people a week,” said Bridget Lee-Calfas, Public Information Director.

“During the summer in addition to the wines we have one beer every week,” Lee-Calfas added.

Every week different local distributors come in and host the events. Jim Gould and Sun Singer have hosted past events, Lee-Calfas said.

This week’s event will be hosted by Radio Maria, a downtown Champaign restaurant that specializes in Spanish cuisine. Two wines and one beer will be served.

“A couple of times a month in addition to the tasting we have live music,” Lee-Calfas said.

This week is one of those times. Maria and Company, an international band, will perform.

In addition to this event, Krannert’s Summer Theatre season starts on Friday.

“[Uncorked] is a great time, when you’re here for the wine tasting, to learn about what’s going on at the stages as well,” Lee-Calfas said.
