The courthouse in downtown Urbana will receive over $1.3 million in federal funding to modernize its facilities through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin, D-Springfield, made the announcement Tuesday. Durbin said, “Investing in our federal infrastructure will put people to work quickly and transform federal buildings into high-performance green buildings.”

The Urbana courthouse was one of 10 Illinois public buildings awarded grants.
