A fire at 1609 W. Clark St. caused significant damage to a Champaign residence.
According to a report from the Champaign Fire Department the two-story home sustained damages to the back of the first story, porch, laundry room, and one of the bedrooms. Three residents and three pets–two dogs and a cat–were all evacuated. The fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter.
The department was dispatched at 3:27 p.m. and arrived at the scene of the incident at 3:32 p.m. The report did not indicate the how much the estimated damage would cost.
