CCAPP continues to help improve community-police relations

A group dedicated to improving communication and cooperation between the African American community and Champaign police is continuing to work on police issues, stated a press release from the City of Champaign.

According to the press release, the group called the Champaign Community and Police Partnership (CCAPP) has made it a mission to resolve police issues raised by the African American community.

Steve Carter, city manager, stated in the press release, “The committee is not an official board, but is a group on concerned individuals, who are trying to improve police-community relations.”

The press release stated that the CCAPP has been meeting to discuss the community concerns of the Vine Street Incident.

The release also said the CCAPP is working to plan a community dialogue in the next few weeks to get more community involvement in resolving important community issues.
