Changes to HPV vaccinations have been announced by the FDA and CDC.
According to a press release from David Lawrance, medical director at McKinley, another HPV vaccine has been approved for women alongside the first vaccine known as Gardasil. This second vaccine is Ceravix and protects against the same high-risk strains of HPV as Gardasil.
The press release stated that McKinley has not yet confirmed as to whether they will carry the vaccine.
In addition to the new vaccine, the press release stated that the FDA has approved the use of the Gardasil vaccine to fight genital warts in men ages 9-26.
According to the press release McKinley will be offering the Gardasil vaccine to men who ask for it. The vaccine is a three-shot series that is given over six months.
