The Champaign Public Works Director has issued a Sidewalk Snow Removal Ordinance to go into effect at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15.
According a press release, the requirement to remove sidewalk snow and ice is in effect for Downtown and Campustown.
Sidewalks are required to be cleared 48 hours after the ordinance is issued which will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
According to the release, the ordinance is issued for the safety of pedestrians due to the winter storm that has brought two or more inches of snow on the sidewalks.
Sidewalks that are not cleared by this time could be cleared by the City at the owner’s expense.
