Quad Day showcases UI diversity

By Jon Hansen and Joe Lamberson

Thousands of students gathered Tuesday on the Quad for this year’s Quad Day festivities.

Over 600 registered student organizations set up booths, demonstrations and impromptu performances in an effort to attract interested students around campus.

Local political candidates were also taking advantage of the chance to meet the students. Judy Myers, Republican candidate for Illinois Senate District 52, was seen shaking hands and talking with students.

“It starts now,” Myers said when asked when the heavy campaign season begins.
