Pardon the dust
January 18, 2007
Dear visitors,
As you may have noticed already, DailyIllini.com is going through a redesign. Please pardon the dust as we work on uploading and updating the pages.
The new look is a product of months of hard work and discussion among the staff of The Daily Illini as it transforms from a campus newspaper into a campus news agency, with a The Daily Illini On-air team that is producing quality newscasts, sports shows and entertainment newscasts to you the information you need to know what’s going on this campus since August 2006 on WPGU 107.1 F.M.
The Web redesign is part of our effort to make ourselves relevant by providing the news in the best way possible and as soon as possible. No longer will The Daily Illini be content with merely reproducing content of the paper and the newscasts. In the coming weeks, we will be introducing new features and content that is exclusive to the Web.
In the new age of communication we are in today, the most important thing for news media is to remind themselves of the fact that there must be a conversation between the news sources and the community that they seek to serve. We are no exception. We will constantly be looking for new ways to get members of the Campus and Champaign-Urbana communities as well as the alumni and others who frequent this site a chance to start dialogues with each other as well as with The Daily Illini.

Things we try may not always work, and there might be better ways to do what we are trying to do. If you have any suggestions and criticisms, please let us know. And please bear with us. We will do the best we can to provide the best Web site possible, as well as the best paper and best radio newscasts.
Respectfully,
Vincent Se Young Lee
Editor in Chief, The Daily Illini
