UI and GEO reach tentative contract agreement

By Drake Baer

The University and the Graduate Employee Organization has entered into a tentative contract agreement regarding wages and benefits.

This is the first agreement of this kind to be reached by both parties since the initial negotiations began in April 2006.

In December 2006 the University filed for federal mediation. Mediation began on January 31. Robin Kaler, University spokesperson, said the University and the GEO have reached consensus, albeit tentative at this time.

“The GEO and the University have reached a tentative contract agreement,” said Kaler. “It is subject to ratification and approval by both parties, and no details will be shared until that process is completed,” she added.

At time of publication, the Graduate Employee Organization could not be reached for comment.
