Secretary White is the founder and a big supporter of the first-person consent program.

The program allows those enrolled to donate their organs without the consent of their families.

“It’s a first person consent where you will come into one of our facilities and we ask if you’d like to become an organ donor and when that time comes we will grant you your wishes,” White said.

White says that getting involved in the program is as easy as joining the donor list or giving blood.

“When you think in terms of an individual for the use of their organs or giving someone else a second chance of life or improving their quality of life, they fall into the category of a hero as well,” White said.
