Services to take place today for deceased Champaign fire lieutenant

Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Champaign Fire Department Lt. Shawn K. Marmion, 47, according to a press release issued by the department.

Fire personnel responded to an attempted suicide call Monday, Aug. 20 around 6:45 p.m. and treated Marmion on arrival. He was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he died Saturday, Aug. 25.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. at Windsor Road Christian Church, 2501 W. Windsor Road, followed by a procession, beginning heading east on Windsor Road, north on Prospect Avenue, east on Washington St., south on State St., east on Clark St., south on Randolph St., west on White St., south on State St., south on Fox Drive, and west on Windsor Road returning to the church.

The procession will pass two Champaign fire stations and other locations significant to the Marmion family.

Windsor Road will be closed between Cherry Hills and Winchester Drives until 2 p.m. today.
