By The Associated Press

SAUNEMIN, Ill. – Eleven people were taken to the hospital after a bus carrying 14 children collided with soil-tilling farm equipment near the rural Illinois community of Saunemin (SAH’-nuh-min).

A spokeswoman at St. James Hospital in Pontiac says ten students and one adult were taken to the hospital with “minor to moderate” injuries.

One student with non life-threatening injuries was transferred to a Peoria Hospital.

Authorities say some of the children were students at Tri-Point High School in Cullom.

Illinois State Police spokesman Master Sergeant Luis Gutierrez says the crash happened around 11 a.m. about 40 miles northeast of Bloomington.
