University spokesman Tom Hardy says it’s important that the University develop a plan to prioritize resources.

“Obviously as the name of it suggests. Uppermost on everybodies’ mind for attention and discussion will be the limited resources that the University has and how they can be best marshalled against the missions of the University,” Hardy said.

The University does not expect a great increase in State funding, and tuition *cannot be indefinitely raised to deal with money problems.

Nick Burbules is the chair of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. He says faculty are essential to maintaining a world class university.

“I think the faculty concerns about this are number one, that we continue our commitment to having a great University, and not just the best University we can afford,” Burbules said.

The agenda for the resource summit should be finalized at the annual meeting of the faculty today.
