Madeline Henry is the Assistant Manager at the Illini Apple Center, which is owned by Illini Media Company. She said its features are tailored to the average college student.

“I think it would definitely be a good unit for students to have, especially those that want to use it as a secondary computer,” Henry said. “It’s small, it’s light weight, easy to travel with, easy to go to class.”

MacBook Air features a 13 inch monitor, a built in webcam, and is compatible with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Watching your favorite movie on the unit may difficult, though: it lacks a built-in CD/DVD drive.

Despite those shortcomings, so far MacBook Air has received mostly positive reviews.

“It’s gorgeous, and as soon as you actually get to hold one in your hands you fall in love with it,” said Tim Braun, the Technical Director at the Illini Apple Center.

The MacBook Air retails at around $1,800 and should be available at the Illini Apple Center on Green Street this Thursday.
