Police searching for suspect in Champaign shooting

Champaign police are searching for a male suspect in a Thursday evening shooting at the 900 block of North Fourth Street, approximately one block west of Douglass Park.

Officers responded to a report that shots had been heard in the area at approximately 6:32 p.m., according to a police report. On arrival at the scene, officers discovered one wounded suspect had already been transported to an area hospital by unknown persons for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, is not being identified by the department. He was treated and released.

Police are searching for a male suspect who reportedly left the scene in a white SUV.
