Great Dane has large litter; 16 puppies even shock vet

FRUITVALE, Colo. – Stephanie Pino was expecting her Great Dane to give birth to about 12 puppies, but instead she got 16.

Pino’s dog, Kyla, had the puppies on Sept. 11. She had 19 in all, but three died.

The survivors now weigh 12-15 pounds each. Pino plans to sell them when they reach 10 weeks.

Pino says even her vet was surprised at the size of the litter.

Insanity plea for mother who enrolled in high school

GREEN BAY, Wis. – A 33-year-old woman accused of stealing her daughter’s identity to attend high school and join the cheerleading team has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Wendy Brown, of Green Bay, faces a felony identity theft charge after enrolling in Ashwaubenon High School as her 15-year-old daughter.

Brown County Circuit Court Judge Sue Bischel agreed Friday to appoint a psychiatrist from Oshkosh for the mental health evaluation.

Brown also faces theft and forgery charges from an unrelated case. She could face up to 13 years if convicted of all charges.

Suspect in golf cart eludes officers by driving in field

MORGAN, Utah – A Utah sheriff’s office has found that it shouldn’t underestimate the golf cart as a getaway car. A suspect in a souped-up golf cart eluded officers who pursued him last month through an alfalfa field – but only for a while. He was arrested the next day.

Officers started pursuing the driver after he was spotted spinning out in a city park. He took off into an alfalfa field and jumped irrigation ditches that the sheriff’s cruisers couldn’t cross.
