Champaign police warned residents on Thursday to remember to lock their garages and secure their vehicles before leaving after a rash of burglaries from vehicles occurred Wednesday night, Feb. 25.

The burglaries were concentrated in the Southwest District, just south of University Avenue and west of Prospect Avenue, according to a press release. Although no electronic items or credit cards were reported stolen, cash, a purse and a wallet were included in the items taken, according to a press release.

The Champaign police advised residents not to leave items in cars in plain sight and even to remove items from the vehicle when you leave it.
