A man who fell three stories Friday evening after attempting to climb from a third- to a fourth-floor balcony is in serious condition, Champaign police spokesperson Rene Dunn said Monday.

The man had been previously listed as in critical condition, Dunn added.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex at 805 S. Fourth St. at 6:33 p.m. An eyewitness said the man was bleeding after he fell.

Lt. Brad Yohnka with the Champaign Police Department said that an investigation is underway.
