The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) issued a press release regarding the limited supply of the H1N1 vaccine throughout the state.

The press release stated the production is slower than expected and there is a limited supply throughout the nation. The distribution is expected to increase during November and December stated the press release.

The press release stated that the vaccine is being delivered to local health departments and hospitals for vaccinations as it comes in.

Damon Arnold, director of the IDPH, stated in the press release that those of higher risk of complications from the H1N1 flu are being given priority vaccinations.

While waiting for the vaccine get in, the IDPH urges people to take health precautions and be patient to get a vaccination.

The press release stated that the virus is expected to circulate throughout the winter and spring and people should get the vaccine whenever available, even if it doesn’t come in until later in the season.

In addition to the expected increase in H1N1 vaccinations, a press release from the Illinois Department of Insurance (INS) issued a release stating that many insurance companies throughout the state have voluntarily agreed to cover administration costs of the vaccine.

The INS press release stated that the state’s largest insurers along with many smaller companies will be covering the administration cost as the cost of the actual vaccine is being paid for by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance company regarding their coverage for the H1N1 vaccine stated the release.
