Governor Quinn announces 1,200 new jobs at Ford

Governor Pat Quinn announced Tuesday that 1,200 new jobs will be available at Ford Motor Company plants in Illinois.
According to a press release, the auto maker has invested $400 million to launch the production of the next-generation Ford Explorer SUV in its Chicago-based manufacturing facilities.
The release stated that $180 million of the investment will go towards manufacturing and $220 million will go towards launch and engineering costs. Ford will also make a significant investment in supplier tools to support in production of the next-generation Explorer, the release added.
“I want to commend Ford for investing nearly $400 million in its Chicago-area manufacturing facilities to increase production and staff,” Governor Quinn said in the press release.
