Main Library features Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr. exhibit

Through March 3, 2010 the printed works of Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. are on display at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Main Library. The exhibit, titled Speaking Unconventionally hosts books, posters and other venues by the letterpress artist from his collection at The Rare Book & Manuscript Library. The display also features a selection of recent pictures.

Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. is known for having charged posters and artist books. Through his media, he conveys ideas about issues such as race and gender.

A former computer programmer, Kennedy left his life to become an artist. He creates fine press books, lectures and teaches across the United States.

In addition to the book and poster exhibit, located on the ground floor of the Main Library in the North-South corridor, Kennedy will be an artist-in-residence on the Illinois campus from February 28 through March 3. During his visit, he will give a lecture and produce an artist book edition with Soybean Press.

Select posters will go on sale March 1, while a larger selection will be sold at the closing reception on March 3.
