The University Library received a donation of more than 200 books from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
“There are 213 volumes,” said Karen Wei, head of the Asian Library. “There are volumes in the Chinese studies and Taiwanese literature as well as Buddhist studies and arts.”
Wei said the books will mainly be used by students and faculty in Asian language and culture studies.
According to a press release from the Library, a celebration ceremony will take place Aug. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the University’s Asian Library, located at 325 Main Library, 1408 West Gregory Drive in Urbana.
“At an economic downtime like this, any donation is great and a big help to not only the University but the Champaign-Urbana area,” Wei said.

Wei said the donation has been in the works for the past three months.
“I’ve been working with the TECO office in Chicago since June,” Wei said. “They’ve been contacting me and giving me a list of books to choose from.”
