Combat Paper Project comes to the University

The Rare Book & Manuscript Library is sponsoring the Combat Paper Project this September 7 trough the 17th, according to a press release from the Rare Book & Manuscript Library. The project was created by Drew Matott and Drew Cameron.

The project invites veterans to shred their uniforms to produce sheets of paper. “Veterans then print on the paper to create cathartic works of art interpreting their military experiences,” according the press release. The University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library holds “The Combat Paper Project Archives”.

Matott and Cameron will speak with students about their project at Allen Hall from September 7 through the 12th. They will also hold workshops daily from September 13 through the 17th at the Printing Department, 54 East Gregory Drive, Champaign. The workshops will explore different aspects of the creating process such as the paper, writing technique and book making.
