The University’s Board of Trustee’s Audit, Budget, Finance and Facilities Committee wants to provide a resolution that would raise the participation of minority and female-owned (MAFBE) companies in University construction projects.
According to a press release, the University currently has 6 percent MAFBE participation in general construction along with the Springfield campus while the Chicago campus has 18 percent general construction participation by MAFBE.
The University’s goal is 15 percent MAFBE participation. If the resolution passes, it will be given top priority.
The resolution to raise the goals will be discussed at the BOT meeting Sept. 23 at the Illini Union, 1401 West Green St. in Urbana.
James Montgomery, committee member and trustee, got assurance from the University administrators to keep the board updated on minority participation in construction projects.
