Sen. Durbin announces over $216,000 to fight violence against women in Illinois

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced that the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women will grant a total of $216,447 to support Illinois violence reduction coalitions, a press release reported.

The Department will provide $117,986 for the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault and $98,461 for Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The funding will help deliver victim services to the women in shelters, crisis centers and victim service program. The money will also help improve technical assistance and provide adequate training for those involved in supporting these victims.
