University’s NSCS chapter receives national award

The University’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars was presented the Bronze STAR Award at the 2010 Leadership Summit.

According to a press release, NSCS is an honors organization for freshmen and sophomores and has over 240 chapters across the country.

Chapters are able to get one of four STAR awards which include bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The award a chapter wins is based on the quality and quantity of events that a chapter holds.

Members work throughout the year to improve NSCS programs including PACE (Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence), I Stand for Integrity Week and mentoring programs for middle and high school students.
