Larry Schook made vice president for research

Dr. Larry Schook will be made the permanent vice president for research, pending approval from the Board of Trustees a the Sept. 9 meeting.

According to an email from President Michael Hogan, Schook has been serving as interim vice president since March 2011. He was chosen by a search committee led by Skip Garcia, vice president for health affairs.

According to the email, Schook has over 200 publications and $25 million in externally sponsored research. While he has been interim vice president, Schook has helped improve cross-campus collaborations and has built new relationships in the public and private sector.
