An Urbana elementary school set out to help break a Guinness World Record on Wednesday afternoon.
Leal Elementary School participated in “Let’s Jump”, an initiative sponsored by Michelle Obama and National Geographic Kids. “Let’s Jump” is an attempt to break the record for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24 hour period.
To break the record, more than 20,000 people worldwide needed to complete one minute of jumping jacks between 2 p.m. local time October 11, 2011 and 2 p.m. ET October 12, 2011.
Kindergarten to 5th grade Leal Elementary students did one minute of continuous jumping jacks in sessions during recess.
Guinness World Records could not yet verify whether or not the record was broken.
