Movie based on ‘Piled Higher and Deeper’ comics to play on campus

“The PHD movie,” based on the comics “Piled Higher and Deeper” by Jorge Cham, will be screening Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Foellinger Auditorium. The movie is free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Graduate College.

The movie is a live-action adaption of the comics, and it was filmed on location at and was produced in partnership with the California Institute of Technology.

The film introduces audiences to the unique and funny culture of academia and follows four graduate students — Cecilia, Mike, Tajel and a nameless Grad student — as they struggle to find balance between research, teaching and their personal lives with humor and heart.

The movie was produced and directed by and stars real Ph.D. students and researchers. It was produced by Meg Rosenburg and directed by Vahe Gabuchian.

This event is co-sponsored by SORF, SACANS, the Chemical & Biochemical Grad Student Advisory Council, Computer Science Grad Student Organization, Department of Physics Grad Student Organization and the Department of Chemistry Grad Student Advisory Committee.
