Urbana High School, or UHS, will host its second annual “Hoopin’ for Hope” basketball game to raise breast cancer awareness.
The event will take place at Urbana Middle School, where the UHS basketball will play against Champaign Central High School. During the game, which begins at 6 p.m., the Urbana Basketball Boosters will sell t-shirts, stickers, planners and raffle tickets.
Last year, the all proceeds were donated to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute at Carle Hospital. This year, the proceeds will be going to the family of UHS basketball coach Vashoune Russell, whose mother is currently battling cancer.
UHS hopes to raise at least $1000 during the event. Shirts can be purchased ahead of time at the UHS administration office and monetary donations can also be made out to the Urbana Basketball Boosters.
