UI Habitat for Humanity to hold Quad sleepover

The campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity is hosting a Quad sleepover on March 29. The event starts at 10 a.m. on Thursday and ends at 10 a.m. on Friday.

At the event, members of the organization will be collecting signatures for a letter to be sent to Illinois 15th District Representative Timothy Johnson. The letter will encourage him to support the bill H.R. 4144. The bill is an amendment to the State Small Business Credit Initiative Act of 2010. The amendment would mandate that participating states use a portion of their federal fund money to develop safe, clean and affordable housing and community housing organizations for low to middle income families.

“The Quad Sleepover will be a great opportunity for students, such as myself, to experience homelessness on a first-hand basis by sleeping on the quad overnight,” said Priscilla Cheng, UI Habitat for Humanity public relations representative.

All students and RSO’s are invited to participate in the sleepover.
