Mom’s Weekend bar checks yield 58 citations

The Illinois State police released the results of a bar check conducted during the late evening hours Saturday.

The detail was conducted by the Illinois State police in conjunction with the Champaign Police Department and the Secretary of State police. The goal of the Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement, or ACE, is to curb underage drinking in Illinois.

Fifty-five citations were issued for minor possession or purchase of alcohol, two citations regarding Happy Hour Violation and one for consumption of alcohol by an employee.

Seven bar locations in Champaign county were checked during the detail. Ten citations were issued at Red Lion, 10 at Joe’s Brewery, nine at KAM’S, six at It’s Brothers, 10 at The Clybourne, eight at White Horse Inn and five at Illini Inn.

An ACE Detail conducted the previous weekend generated 22 citations.
