Office of the Dean of Students releases revised absentee policy

By Daily Illini Staff Report

The Student Assistance Center in the Office of the Dean of Students at the University sent a mass email Monday morning announcing revisions to the absentee policy, which will go into effect this summer.

According to the email, illnesses lasting fewer than three days will no longer be excused and clarified that absentee letters from the Office of the Dean of Students do not necessarily excuse students. Excusing students is left up to the instructors’ discretion. The new policy highlights that absences are based on the instructor’s discretion.
