Student sexually assaulted in dorm, UIPD reports

A student was allegedly sexually assaulted in a University residence hall, according to a campus safety notice issued by the University of Illinois Police Department on Sunday night.

The reported assault occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday in a Champaign resident hall. The exact location was not released. The suspect was known to the victim.

“The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is providing resources to assist those involved in this incident and will continue to take actions to maintain the safety and security of the campus community,” the notice read.

The police encourage students to go to wecare.illinois.edu for more information about stopping sexual assault and supporting survivors.
