Champaign police have found an Urbana residence from which they believe a caller anonymously reported a rumor about a possible gun threat in local schools, according to a release. However, police have not yet determined who made the call.

The message was left at on Setember 12 at Carrie Busey Elementary School in Champaign, and it warned that there could be violence in area schools. The caller did not threaten the schools, but expressed a concern for the safety of their students, according to the release.

While the release said that there was no information indicating that the schools are at risk, police plan to “continue to have a strong visible presence in the schools.”
