A home in the 900 block of west Beardsley Avenue was seriously damaged during a fire Sunday night.

According to a press release from the Champaign Fire Department, Serlena Britt, her son, and her three grandchildren live in the house but none of the occupants were home when the fire began. The owner’s puppy was the only thing inside the house and was killed during the fire

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
