Community handles road closure without complaints

By Daily Illini Staff Report

The road closure on Springfield Avenue is scheduled to last until the end of October, but area commuters are not complaining, said Louis Braghini, resident engineer for the Champaign City Department.

Braghini said the detour, which diverts traffic off Springfield Avenue between First and Fourth streets in Champaign, was set up with no problems.

“We are continuing to check traffic flow,” Braghini said.

The detour is also not influencing any of the campus or community bus routes, according to the MTD. The bus service said it does not have any routes that run on the affected part of Springfield.
