Jesse White brings mobile site to Illini Union

By Daily Illini Staff Report

The Secretary of State’s office is offering an opportunity to take advantage of a variety of their services the Illini Union on Wednesday in Room 407.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the office will offer services such as renewing drivers licenses, registering for organ and tissue donations, vehicle ticket sales and vehicle titles and registration.

This mobile site provides a more convenient option to take care of such necessities other than going to the DMV, assistant press secretary Rachel Farrer said.

The office is also selling University collegiate license plates, whose proceeds go to supporting a scholarship fund for the University, Farrer said.

The $25 from the sale of each license plate and money from the the renewal of the license plate will go toward the scholarship fund.

“Secretary White sees it has a benefit for students who want show school spirit and as well support student scholarships at this University,” Farrer said.

In previous fiscal years the program has earned up to $178,750 for the program and Farrer said that the mobile site in the Union is one of the most popular.

“We always have a great turn out when the secretary state mobile unit is on campus, so I would expect to see some similar progress,” Farrer said.
