Victim robbed at Illini Union ATM

Robbery occurred at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., at around 5 p.m. Sunday.

The victim was getting money out of an ATM when the offender approached and took the cash immediately as it was being disbursed, according to a crime alert from the University Police Department.

After taking the cash, the offender exited from the southeast side of the building and left on a small mountain or BMX style bike. Based on security footage, it appears that the offender had been in the building for around three hours prior to the robbery.

The offender is described as a 20 to 30-year-old black male. He was wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, a black jacket, black shoes, black sweatpants and was carrying a black backpack.

Information provided about the race of the offender only serve to supplement the other descriptions and are alone the not meaningful the the persons’ appearance, according to the email.
