ISS takes steps toward filling its open positions

By Charlotte Collins

The Illinois Student Senate appointed new senators to chairs at its Wednesday meeting, including the return of Timmy Knudsen, who previously served as vice president-external.

Knudsen was elected chair of the Committee on Community and Governmental Affairs. Additionally, four new senators were elected to the serve on the committees of Internal Affairs and Financial Affairs.

Matt Hill, vice president-external, proposed a resolution to allocate $2,000 to hire a webmaster. A student will be paid to update the ISS website for $10 an hour, 10 hours a week. The update is projected to be finished by the beginning of fall semester 2015.

Vice president-internal Sarah Hochman presented information about serving as members of campus committees and encouraged senators to apply for positions.

Campus committee applications are open to all students and include a range of groups, such as the Student Sustainability Committee and the McKinley Student Advisory Board. Senators not interviewing for a position will interview applicants on March 13 and 14.
