Bar checks bring 22 citations

The Illinois State Police released the results of the Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement, or ACE, conducted during the late evening hours of Friday April 3.

Twenty citations were issued for minors in possession/purchase of alcohol, one for unlawful use of identification and one for resisting a police officer. Bar checks were conducted at six locations in Champaign County as well as a street sweep of the campus area.

Red Lion, Joe’s Brewery, It’s Brothers, Clybourne, Firehaus and Kam’s were the locations in which checks were conducted during the detail.

Of the 22 total citations, nine were issued at Red Lion, three at Joe’s Brewery, three at It’s Brothers, two at Clybourne and three at Firehaus. Two were issued in the street sweep of the campus area.

The ACE programs works to decrease and deter underage drinking in Illinois and increase police presence in the campus area, according to the press release from the Illinois State Police.
